Euljiro was quiet under the summer heat. Even in the center of Seoul, the streets felt almost empty.

There were camera shops everywhere, many of them small street-level stores dealing in Japanese cameras. For someone who loves cameras, it was a pleasant street to wander through, pausing now and then to look into the windows.

I stopped by Youngnak Church, just a short walk from Camera Street. In the quiet afternoon light, the church was filled with a sense of stillness and peace.

Leaving the church behind, I turned my camera toward the surrounding office district. The hard summer sunlight fell across the cold, plain surfaces of the buildings, creating sharp contrasts of light and shadow.

Three older men walked along the street, chatting and laughing together. I wondered where they were heading. Perhaps somewhere for a drink, to continue their conversation into the evening.
