The area around Dongdaegu Station is somewhere I return to now and then on weekends, usually to pick up a few things. Yet it also makes for a pleasant little walk, with no particular destination in mind.

The Daegyeong Line runs every thirty minutes, a familiar presence in everyday life.

I love the quiet streets of Dongbu-ro, where time seems to move a little more slowly.

One of the pleasures of Dongbu-ro is knowing that a good bowl of Japanese-style ramen is never far away. A quiet street, a little hunger, and somewhere to stop for a warm bowl.

Down in the basement of Shinsegae Department Store, a little of Japan feels close at hand. Whenever I find myself missing home, this is where I like to come.

The presence of Japanese ingredients brings memories of home a little closer.
