With relatively few tourists around, I took my time wandering through this old-fashioned shopping street, quietly enjoying the atmosphere of a simpler time.

I began my walk at Kushida Shrine, quietly offering a prayer for a pleasant afternoon of wandering.

A banner featuring a local comedian catches my eye at the entrance to the shopping street. Somehow, it feels unmistakably Hakata.
At a long-established ramen shop, a simple sign on the wall lets customers choose the firmness of their noodles and the richness of their broth. Just another ordinary scene in everyday Hakata.
I took one more photograph of the street, with the comedian’s banner standing out above the quiet afternoon.
The lanterns add a gentle touch of character, quietly bringing the shopping street to life.
I have a soft spot for the clutter of street signs, standing casually side by side.

As I came out of the shopping street, the blue summer sky opened up before me, with the Hakata-za building rising quietly in the distance.
