In Bulo-dong, clusters of ancient tombs lie remarkably close to the rhythms of everyday life, creating a town with a quietly and warm atmosphere.

Before setting off on my walk, I stopped at a long-established restaurant for a hearty meal of beef short ribs. Korean barbecue is not always welcoming to solo diners, but here, I felt perfectly at ease. I arrived a little after two in the afternoon, when the restaurant was quiet and I was the only customer. ;구불로식당

Just a four- or five-minute walk from the main road, a hill dotted with ancient tombs rises quietly above the town. What surprised me most was how freely I could wander among them, as if they had always been part of the everyday landscape.

Leaving the ancient tombs behind for a while, I made my way to Bulo-dong Traditional Market, where another side of the town awaited.
The market itself had few distinctive features, so I took my time photographing the people who brought it to life, each slowly going about their day.
All around the market, stray cats waited patiently for their evening meal, keeping watch from their familiar corners.

Just before sunset, I returned to the hill of ancient tombs and climbed up to watch the last light of the day settle over the town.
After lingering beneath the vivid evening sky, I left the hill of ancient tombs behind, already thinking of returning in a different season.
